Spiced Apple Crisp

Hello everyone and welcome back! This week I want to share some fall comfort food recipes. My favorite apples are in season now so I decided to make this warm spiced apple crisp. I love making apple crisps, they are one of those desserts that is a guaranteed crowd pleaser that takes less time and effort than making an apple pie.

Rockit, Lucy Rose and Lucy Glo are some of my favorite apples!

For this apple crisp I used Lucy Rose and Lucy Glo apples. you can use any apple you like in this recipe but I am always so excited when I see these beautiful apples at my local grocery store.

Lucy Rose apples are a sweet apple with a hint of berry flavor, the skin of the apple is red but what makes this apple extra special is that the flesh of the apple is also red. They are a crisp apple that are perfect for charcuterie boards and give visual appeal to pies and crisps. Lucy Glo Apples are a tart apple that is less sweet than Lucy Rose, these apples have a blushing gold skin and like its sister apple it also has red flesh.

The spice mixture is this recipe takes the flavors to the next level. I love using cardamom in desserts, it has an earthy, piney flavor that leans slightly citrusy. It has a complex flavor that really compliments the sweet and tart flavor of the apples, combined with the familiar flavors of cinnamon and cloves this apple crisp is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
